AGÔN Electronics strengthens its rail and functional safety business with the acquisition of SC3 Automation.
AGÔN Electronics, which has been supported by the Argos Fund since 2022, has acquired SC3 Automation, a company based in Canada, with a subsidiary in Australia, that specialises in designing solutions for functional safety – including critical functional safety – that meet the most demanding
international standards.
A strategic combination that strengthens the Group’s critical systems business
The acquisition is a key milestone in AGÔN Electronics’ development, significantly strengthening its position in the rail, defence, critical embedded systems and safety automation markets. SC3 Automation shares a strong culture of engineering, innovation and technical excellence with the AGÔN Electronics group, and particularly with its Leroy Automation and MIOS Elettronica entities
and its AGÔN Railway business unit.
The combination bolsters the AGÔN group’s offering by adding acknowledged expertise in functional safety – covering safety integrity levels (SIL) 2-4 – across the whole product life cycle: design, development, certification and industrialisation.
The acquisition allows AGÔN Electronics to enter a key new phase in its development by:
• Adding leading-edge expertise in functional safety that meets the strictest standards (CENELEC, IEC, DO, MIL and ISO).
• Generating technical and industrial synergies, helping clients optimise their functional safety and reduce time-to-market by using a modular approach based on pre-certified components.
• Strengthening the Group’s rail offering with embedded wayside solutions that meet CENELEC standards up to SIL4.
• Bringing major commercial synergies, since the AGÔN Electronics group now covers all of the rail market’s needs through a comprehensive electronics offering in the signalling and train control and monitoring systems (TCMS) segments. In addition, the Group and SC3 Automation will take advantage of their complementary geographical positions, particularly in Europe and North America, to share and bolster their business networks.
Bruno Picquart, CEO of AGÔN Electronics, said: “By integrating SC3 Automation, the AGÔN group is making a major strategic step forward. SC3’s unique expertise in functional safety strengthens our value proposition in the most demanding markets, particularly rail, but also aerospace, defence and space. Together, we will step up our development of high-value-added critical solutions and reinforce our position as a first-choice provider in those segments.”
Julien Chouinard, CEO of SC3 Automation added: “By joining the AGÔN Electronics group, SC3 Automation is moving to the next level. The combination allows us to benefit from AGÔN’s strengths – including its industrial excellence, sales force and international reach – while preserving our technological DNA and our high standards in terms of functional safety. We are confident that our alliance will open up bright new horizons for growth and innovation.”

About AGÔN Electronics
Based in France, Italy, and Morocco, AGÔN Electronics is France’s leading provider of EMSs (Electronic Manufacturing Services) in the market for HMLV (High Mix, Low Volume) products designed for demanding environments. It is a major player in the aerospace, defence, rail, energy, space, medical and instrumentation markets.
The Group has nearly 1,500 people and a collection of complementary industrial entities – FEDD, PHENIX Électronique, TEAM31, LEROY Automation, MIOS Elettronica, TRONICO, CISTEO Medical and TESTELEC Ingénierie – organised by specialisation and with the aim of generating synergies.
AGÔN has an integrated business model built around two strategic verticals – as a provider of EMSs and as an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) – that enable it to cover the entire electronics value chain. As a provider of EMSs specialising in HMLV products, the Group provides clients with support ranging from co-design to industrial production of complex electronic boards and systems. As an ODM (Original Design Manufacturer), AGÔN designs, develops and sells its own solutions for critical environments in which performance, reliability and robustness are critical.
As well as its EMS and ODM activities, the Group offers a comprehensive array of high-valueadded services covering the whole product life cycle. Those services rely on an integrated design and engineering department, which is a key driver of innovation, along with the Group’s leadingedge technical expertise in cybersecurity and system reliability assurance, eco-design, and testing, inspection and certification. AGÔN also supports its clients over the long term by providing them with maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services that ensure the performance and longevity of the solutions they deploy.
SC3 Automation is the AGÔN Electronics group’s fifth major acquisition – following MIOS in 2023, TRONICO in 2024, CISTEO Medical in 2025 and TESTELEC Ingénierie in 2026 – and strengthens its position across the entire electronics value chain. Driven by an ambitious growth strategy and a strong culture of innovation, AGÔN Electronics aims to become a leading European player in complex electronics, combining close client relationships with technical expertise, operational excellence and a commitment to sustainability.
